Golf Tournament a Hole-In-One for SVA
Our 4th Annual Golf Tournament held Cedar Hills Golf Course on July 18th was a big success particularly because of the many individuals who were introduced to SVA as a result of the tournament. Student's Give Stellar Performance of Shakespeare's Henry V
For the past several months, many of our students have been working extremely hard to prepare for Shakespeare's Henry 5th that took place June 26 & 27. Students were expected to attend several rehearsals a week that took deep commitment and required students to sacrifice free time after days already filled with classes and work. A Phenomenal C.O.R.E. Class Presentation

C.O.R.E is a class that was created specifically for the female population to provide an opportunity for the participants to discuss issues that are relevant to their lives as women, and to life in general. It also gives them the opportunity to self-reflect through class discussions/shared experiences to improve social skills/relationships and their self-confidence. C.O.R.E. helps women develop a greater sense of inclusion as they learn from each other.
On May 8, 2014, the wonderful women of C.O.R.E presented a Reader's Theater performance of, "The Story of Change." Read more...

SVA's 2014 Family Reunion a Big Success

SV Academy just had the annual Family Reunion full of education, fun, and games! We celebrated Cameron Peterson's graduation wishing him the best for him and his new bright future. He gave a wonderful speech and we could not be more proud of his accomplishments. Then we kicked off the day with a sumptuous breakfast which was later followed by fabulous burrito bar both of which featured the amazing talents of our award winning kitchen staff--Jerry, Armida, Denise, & Luis. This was a delicious way to start the fun and was a good way to mingle and get to know our SVA families. Read more...

IECA Conference in Indianapolis - May 8, 2014

Ryan M and Marty represented SVA at the IECA conference held in Indianapolis. It was an excellent conference that focused on many topics such as social media, parenting skills, and bullying. Ryan and Marty met with the national network of post-secondary programs for adults with learning disabilities. It was commented that this meeting had the most attendees of any previous meetings. Utah philanthropist Tye Noorda dies at age 90

Lewena "Tye" Noorda, a Utah philanthropist and arts lover, died Saturday at the age of 90.
A gifted musician, writer, director, poet and songwriter, Noorda was instrumental in helping fund a number of educational, religious and artistic organizations.
"She was a wonderful person without guile," said Doug Gale, executive director of the Scenic View Academy in Provo that helps adults with learning disabilities and autism. "She did not want recognition. They [Noorda and her late husband Ray Noorda] were very free with their money and helped lots and lots of causes. They were very private with the recognition for what they were doing. They were out there giving away money. They didn't need the recognition." Keep Reading...
