Marty Matheson, LCSW
Marty is very happy to be working with such a great team of staff, serving our wonderful students and their families in the dynamic and positive environment of ScenicView Academy. In addition to overseeing the programming and operations at ScenicView, Marty serves on local and national committees, including the National Association of Private Special Education Centers. Prior to his appointment as Executive Director, he was the Clinical Services Unit Manager at ScenicView for 7 years. Marty is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and was a therapist and administrator for 14 years in community mental health prior to joining ScenicView. He is an adjunct professor at Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University, teaching graduate and undergraduate students in Social Work and Behavioral Sciences. Marty enjoys providing therapy to adults and has done so with LDS Family Services and through his own private practice. Marty has visited 30 countries and has been to all 50 United States with his own travels and with several performing groups including BYU's International Folk Dance Ensemble. He enjoys acting in plays, films, and television productions. Marty loves seeing individuals embrace their potential and enhance their quality of life.
Jared was named the 2011 Educator of the Year by the National Association of Private Special Education Centers (NAPSEC). In addition to supervising the education, speech therapy, health, fitness, arts, and recreation staff at ScenicView Academy, he teaches classes in disability awareness and provides tutoring for college support. Born and raised on Kodiak Island, Alaska, Jared dropped out of school before going on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Brigham Young University. He has spent more than a decade working with adolescents and adults with autism and other learning disabilities, and has shared his views on the techniques and mindsets that lead to improved outcomes for these individuals with many local and national audiences. His passion for the subject arises from personal experience: he has family members with disabilities and has been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome himself. On the side, Jared is an adjunct professor at Utah Valley University—helping run their annual Conference on Autism, teaching classes for their Autism Studies track, and assisting with their Passages Program as a life-skills instructor and curriculum developer. In 2016 he was appointed by the governor to the Utah Developmental Disabilities Council as a citizen advisory member. Jared enjoys spending time with his wife and three children—and adheres to the belief that there is untapped greatness in everyone, regardless of their so-called “disabilities”.
