Marty Matheson, LCSW Executive Director Marty Matheson Marty is very happy to be working with such a great team of staff, serving our wonderful students and their families in the dynamic and positive environment of ScenicView Academy. In addition to overseeing the programming and operations at ScenicView Academy, Marty serves on local and national committees and boards, including Board of Directors for the National Association of Private Special Education Centers headquartered in Washington D.C.. Prior to his appointment as Executive Director, he was the Clinical Director at ScenicView for 7 years. Marty is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and was a therapist and administrator for 14 years in community mental health prior to joining ScenicView. He is an adjunct professor at Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University, teaching graduate and undergraduate students in Social Work and Behavioral Sciences. Marty enjoys providing therapy to adults through his own private practice and he loves training and supervising new therapists. Marty has visited 30 countries and has been to all 50 United States with his own travels and with several performing groups including BYU’s International Folk Dance Ensemble. He enjoys his hobby of acting in plays, films, and television productions. Marty loves seeing individuals embrace their potential by applying empowering principles that enhance their quality of life. |

Alex Johnson, LCSW Admissions & Business Development Director Alex Johnson graduated from BYU with a Master in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He has worked at ScenicView as a therapist, as a Program Development consultant, and now enjoys his role as Admissions Director. Helping potential students and their families learn about ScenicView Academy is a joy and an honor. Alex loves SVA because of the bright and positive energy that the students and staff have. |
Donna Brocco, CPA, MAcc

Donna Brocco, CPA, MAcc Financial Director Donna graduated with her masters degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University in 1990. She came to Scenicview in 2001 after serving as the Financial Services Manager at a community mental health center for 11 years. She loves the atmosphere at Scenicview and enjoys the variety of work she is able to perform. For the past 12 years, she has also been using her accounting skills by serving as volunteer treasurer for her city’s soccer league. Donna enjoys watching and participating in various sports and is an avid reader. |
Jared Davis, MSS
Human Resources Manager x
Jared Davis, MSS Human Resources Manager Jared graduated from Utah State University (go Aggies!) with a Masters degree in Human Resources Management. Jared started working at ScenicView Academy in 2004 and is still in awe that he has the best job in the world. Jared wears the hats of both Human Resources Director and Operations Director. In his previous career, Jared worked as a Social Service Worker and has found that his two careers blend well at ScenicView Academy because he can interact directly with the students. In his spare time he can be found throwing pots on the wheel. Jared believes that M&M's and KitKats are the best chocolate candy because they are easily shared. |
Jared Stewart, M.Ed.
Program Director x
Jared Stewart, M.Ed. Program Director Jared Stewart, M.Ed., was named the 2011 Educator of the Year by the National Association of Private Special Education Centers, the 2018 Presenter of the Year by the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs, and a 2020 Hero for Autism by the Autism Resources of Utah County organization. He currently works as ScenicView's Program Director—where develops curriculum, oversees instruction, and teaches his students to recognize and embrace the strengths of their diagnoses. On the side, he is an adjunct professor at Utah Valley University, where he helps run their annual Conference on Autism and assists with the Melisa Nellesen Center’s Passages Program as a life-skills instructor and curriculum developer. In 2016 he was appointed by the governor to the Utah Developmental Disabilities Council and currently serves as the Council Chair. Jared has spent almost two decades working with autistic adolescents and adults, and has shared his views on the techniques and mindsets that lead to improved outcomes for these individuals with many local and national audiences. His passion for the subject arises from personal experience: he has numerous family members on the Spectrum, and he was diagnosed with autism himself as an adult. In all he does, Jared adheres to the belief that there is untapped greatness in everyone, regardless of their so-called “disabilities”. |
Ryan Miller, LCSW
Program Director x
Ryan Miller, LCSW Program Director Ryan Miller interned at ScenicView Academy the summer of 2006 and fell in love with helping individuals on the Autism Spectrum. In April 2007 he graduated from Brigham Young University with a Masters in Social Work and served as a ScenicView psychotherapist for eight years before becoming the Clinical Services Unit Manager and now Program Director. He has presented on a local and national level and is an adjunct professor at UVU and BYU. He is a certified Change Anything instructor and is passionate about helping others in their life journey. |
Live staff
Our Live Program emphasizes the daily living and lifelong learning skills needed to become residentially independent. Skills like: budgeting, cooking, personal hygiene, medical and dental health, laundry, cleaning, and transportation prepare students to live independently in the community. Educational support is also available in reading, writing, math and for getting a high school, college, or trade school diploma.
Barbara Yearsley
Live Program Supervisor x
Barbara Yearsley Live Program Supervisor Barbara has a Bachelor of Science in Special Education with an emphasis in Mild/Moderate from Brigham Young University. She taught special education and resource classes as a certified professional teacher in the state of Utah. Barbara raised a child with autism and knows from personal experience the thrill of seeing a neurodiverse child grow and reach for independence. She also understands the challenges and difficulties that individuals with autism and their families face and has participated in developing and promoting various support groups to help meet their needs. Barbara first became involved with ScenicView Academy as a parent; her son attended ScenicView in 2011. She began working in the Education Department in 2013, later became the Education Unit Supervisor, and is currently the Live Program Supervisor. She enjoys her current role which focuses on teaching students educational and independent living skills. Her hobbies include reading, singing, boating, walking and traveling the country to see her 4 children and 11 grandchildren. Barbara believes that all individuals have the ability to learn and succeed when given the right environment to build upon their own unique talents and strengths. |
Candace Finch

Candace Finch Nurse Candace Finch graduated with a Bachelors of Science Nursing Degree from the University of Utah in 2002. She has spent the past 20 years of her profession serving and learning in a number of nursing areas which include: Orthopedics, Neurology, Pediatrics, Newborn Intensive Care, Mom Baby, Home Health and the past 4 years at ScenicVIew Academy. Her number one profession and greatest joy is being a wife and mom to 4 lovely active children. She feels very privileged to work with the students and staff at ScenicVIew and feels like she has found her dream job working with others who share her passion to serve, teach and change lives. She is passionate about health and fitness and loves teaching life changing skills. When she’s not busy being a taxi driver or at the ballpark cheering on the team, she enjoys playing pickleball, running, biking, gardening, reading, and vacationing with her family. |

JaNae Hakes

JaNae Hakes Live Skills Specialist JaNae received her bachelor of science degree from BYU in Family, Child and Human Development. Shortly after, she became an advocate in the autism community when her oldest was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in 1998 at age 2. Since then she has been serving individuals of all ages and their families affected by autism and other disabilities in a variety of education settings. She has worked with toddlers and preschoolers, young children and teens in early intervention, public district school, charter school and private school settings. She enjoys working with all ages, but feels especially drawn to support youth and young adults in living flourishing, interdependent lives. She is thrilled to be working with the ScenicView team and the wonderful students here. She also volunteers her time with the Autism Resources of Utah County Council and chairs the Parent Advisory Group for the Melisa Nellesen Center for Autism at UVU. As a parent of 4 children, representing a variety of disabilities--including cognitive and communication disorder, hard of hearing, epilepsy, mental illness, and ASD--JaNae and her family have come to define disability as “able through another way.” She loves living and working with those who are blazing “other way” trails and believes they were born to change the world! She is a big fan of parents raising ASD children and loves interacting with and learning from them. She also loves being outdoors, planning and organizing, watching stand-up comedy and storytelling, gardening, and creative writing. |
Josh Hill

Josh Hill Live Skills Specialist Joshua is originally from the south. He got an associates degree from Brigham Young University in Idaho. He is still in the process of getting his Accounting degree. Joshua believes that ScenicView is an amazing place and that they are part of the solution. While at SVA Josh has done many different job duties such as being a driver, HSW, cooking and transportation specialists. However Josh really enjoys being a money management specialist and helping students practice self-control with their money and help them being disciplined with their budgets. In his free time Joshua loves basketball and in college he coached women’s basketball and won a coach of the year award in a intercollegetical basketball league. |
Kelli Johnson

Kelli Johnson Educational Lead Kelli Johnson has a BS in Elementary Education from Southern Utah University. She taught in public schools as a certified teacher for six years and is licensed in both Utah and Washington. She has experience with all grade levels and types of students. Kelli has worked at ScenicView Academy for ten years. She teaches a variety of subjects, works as the Outside Education Specialist, supervises the SVA library, and is the Education Lead. Kelli loves getting to know each student as an individual and supporting them in the way that works best for them. As a mom of three kids, she appreciates each person’s unique strengths and challenges and believes that every student can achieve great things. |

Lindy Johnson Daily Living Lead Lindy graduated from BYU with a Bachelor degree in Sociology. She has been connected to ScenicView for some time, and absolutely loves working with the unique population here. Lindy enjoys teaching, and has worked as an online ESL teacher. Lindy likes reading non-fiction books, spending time with her 3 sons, and traveling with her husband. |

Megan Standley Live Skills Specialist Megan has enjoyed working with individuals from varied learning backgrounds all of her life! She graduated with a BA of Science from BYU and currently teaches Cooking & Nutrition classes at SVA. She enjoys helping students develop their skills in creative ways and has great enthusiasm for exploring world cultures and cuisines. She believes there's always a way to figure out a problem, and that "anyone can learn anything"! |

Ralph Radcliffe Live Skills Specialist Ralph joined ScenicView in 2013 after a long career in the printing industry and has held a couple different positions. He is currently a Live Support Specialist and enjoys teaching independent living skills to help the students progress towards successful independence. Through personal experience overcoming his own challenges in life, Ralph understands the students’ differences and the difficulties they face. He relates to the students and enjoys working with them. He believes in possibilities and beating the odds. Ralph loves his family and is passionate about basketball. He is competitive in all sports. He also enjoys watching movies and listening to music. |
Terri Timmins

Terri Timmins Live Skills Specialist Terri earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical & Fuels Engineering from the University of Utah, all while raising four children. Her professional experience includes six years as a private tutor of K-12 and college students, including special-needs students, and nine years as a Process Engineer in the Personal Care and Nanotechnology industries. She is excited to once again be teaching and interacting with students at ScenicView. Terri and her husband have been part of the BYU Women’s Basketball Stats Team since 2007, and both love to travel. She enjoys Utes football, musical theater, journaling, reading, collecting sea shells, and spending time with her family (currently at 19 grandchildren, some of which travel with her). The focus of our Work Program, is to guide students through the stages of finding and keeping a job. Career exploration, skill and interest assessments, applications, interviewing, preparing for and meeting expectations at work, accepting feedback, and communication with co-workers and supervisors prepares students for meaningful employment.
Scott Wood, CMHC

Scott Wood, CMHC Work Program Supervisor Scott graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. He has worked for ScenicView since it opened and has enjoyed seeing it grow, and seeing the students benefit from the services provided at ScenicView. He has many duties, including being the Work Supervisor helping students find gainful employment, and a Psychotherapist. Scott also works with the WHY TRY organization as a National Training Consultant helping youth and others develop the social and emotional skills necessary to reach their goals. He enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and participating in sports. |
Char Romberg

Char Romberg Work Skills Specialist Char first joined ScenicView as an intern and is now currently working in our vocational department as an on-campus work specialist. She has been working with individuals with disabilities for over 12 years and had the opportunity to be trained in ABA by one of the world’s leading ABA experts at Autism Partnership. Char’s passion for inclusion led her to be Provo City’s first adaptive coordinator where she developed award-winning adaptive recreation programs for children and adults with disabilities. Prior to coming to ScenicView, she was a fundraising director for United Angels Foundation and a behavior technician for two public school districts. Char continues to learn from twin sisters with Down syndrome whom she has been able to support through their journey at school and at home over the last 6 years. Char enjoys being part of the animal rescue community in Utah where she is able to foster animals and help them find forever homes. She volunteers for Therapy Animal in Utah and is in the process of training one of her dogs to become a certified therapy dog. She has a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Autism Studies. Currently, Char is working on her master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and will soon be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Her dream is to be able to use this training to help individuals with disabilities achieve their dreams. |
Don McIntyre

Don McIntyre Work Skills Specialist Don comes to ScenicView Academy with over 13 years of professional experience having assisted numerous individuals with learning differences in finding and maintaining meaningful employment in the community. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Tourism and a minor in Communications. He enthusiastically teaches ScenicView’s job preparation class and finds great joy in helping individuals gain greater confidence as they learn to navigate the steps for obtaining employment. Don dedicates much of his time volunteering in many capacities within his religious organization. He has a deep love of the outdoors, plays pond hockey and enjoys inline skating. He and his wife are the parents of two wonderful children. |

Kaha'i Fa'alafua Work Skills Specialist Kaha’i graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics. He has been working at ScenicView since July 2019 and enjoys working side by side with the students and aiding their journey to find meaningful employment. He has a passion for working with people of various backgrounds, upbringings, and viewpoints on life. He has worked as an academic coordinator for multicultural students, coordinating scholarship and internship opportunities and assisting in both inclusion and recruitment programs. He wanted to work at ScenicView to learn more about the autism spectrum and to build meaningful relationships with those in the autism community. When not working, he loves to learn new languages (currently working on Korean) and going for drives with the music loud and windows down. |
Robert Johns

Robert Johns Work Skills Specialist Robert Johns graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. degree in Communications and has a Social Service Worker license. He joined the ScenicView employment team in 2003, with the charge to help develop an on-campus training program to prepare students for the world of work. Since ScenicView’s internship program started in 2011, Robert has placed over 200 students in internships and paid jobs. He has developed and maintained partnerships with 120 community employers to benefit ScenicView students. Robert has presented at local and national conferences, sharing strategies for helping students increase their job seeking, job keeping and career preparation skills. Robert serves in the community as the Director of a local United Way partner agency. He also enjoys volunteering as a youth leader and sports coach. He believes that every day is a new adventure we should welcome with hope and optimism. |

Elein Sutherland, CTRS, LCSW Thrive Supervisor Elein Sutherland is the supervisor for the Thrive Unit and Mentors. She is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She began her journey at ScenicView Academy as a recreation therapy intern and developed a passion for neurodiverse individuals and creating innovative ways to help this population. She is experienced in the following therapeutic modalities: EMDR, CBT, Crisis First Aid, TF-CBT, DBT, ACT, Mind-Body Bridging, Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, Sand Tray, and Play therapy. She believes in integrating a variety of approaches to best accommodate a student's needs. Elein is described as a quirky individual who enjoys a wide variety of things, including anime, Pokemon Go, and collecting plushies. |

Caitlin White Thrive Skills Specialist Caitlin White came to Scenic View with a deep love of teaching and a desire to empower students to reach for their dreams. She believes that all students have a touch of greatness within them, and the potential to make a real difference in their homes and communities. Her teaching motto is: “I can do hard things.” Caitlin has professional experience in acting, writing, and commercial arts, as well as experience teaching and tutoring individuals with different abilities. Caitlin received an associate’s degree of science at Snow College and is currently a senior at Brigham Young University working towards her degree. |
Chelsea Oliver, MTRS, CTRS

Chelsea Oliver, MTRS, CTRS Rec Therapist Chelsea Oliver MTRS, CTRS has worked with individuals on the autism spectrum since 2009 in various roles and facilities. She graduated from Southern Utah University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and continued her education at the University of Utah earning a Master’s Degree in Recreational Therapy. Chelsea started working as a Recreation Therapist at ScenicView Academy in July 2017 and enjoys teaching skills in leisure education, resiliency, relationships, and social skills. Chelsea believes in the power of the Leisure Ability Model, Flow, and the Self-Efficacy theory and strives to help students develop individual talents, find personal fulfillment, and prepare socially and emotionally to integrate and thrive in community life. In addition to working at ScenicView, Chelsea has presented in University classes and serves on the Utah Recreation Therapy Association board. On the URTA board, she has served as the secretary, on the conference committee, and as the conference chair. Chelsea is a french fry connoisseur and will never say no to some chocolate or Dr. Pepper. When Chelsea is not working, she can be found with her family playing games, trying new restaurants, cooking, and camping. |

Jenna Higgins, TRS, CTRS Rec Therapist Jenna graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Recreational Therapy as a TRS and CTRS. She has worked with children and teenagers on the autism spectrum ranging from high functioning to severe with physical and verbal limitations. She loves working with them and learning from them. She came to ScenicView in 2016 as an intern and loved being able to teach social skills, coping mechanisms, resiliency, and creating leisure activities with the students. She came back in 2018 as a full term Recreation Therapist. She enjoys being able to interact, learn from, and help teach students to become independent and refine their skills. She is a believer in the Leisure Ability Model and Self Efficacy Theory. She has seen how these have helped students understand themselves, be aware, and be able to socialize with others around them. Jenna has also presented at the Utah Recreation Therapy Association conference. When not working, she is watching or playing sports, going on adventures, eating any kind of french fry, and riding horses. |
