Core Values
Although our teaching approach is very different for each student at ScenicView, our values as educators and mentors remain constant. By following our Core Values, we are motivated and confident in our ability to help each student gain new skills and abilities.
People with LD can learn. Individuals with learning disabilities learn using innovative methods and practices. Our experience, research and review of successful individuals worldwide validate the belief that a person can succeed when the focus is on their strengths and not their deficits.
Growth requires hope. Growth increases for individuals and families within an atmosphere of hope. Emphasizing a person's strengths and providing support as they exert themselves is a powerful and consistent motivator.
There is no choice without responsibility. Individuals are more accountable for their actions when they assume personal ownership of their choices. Natural consequences shape the choices we make. We support our students in making choices that will further their progress.
Never be satisfied. Learning is a lifelong, challenging, and dynamic process of accomplishments. A person learns when they strive to extend their capabilities and views of what they can achieve.
Small changes are great. Mastery of one skill moves the individual incrementally toward a more fulfilling life. We celebrate each step taken. When choosing one's path, a small bend in the road can make a significant difference on one’s destination.
We will change the world. This is accomplished by developing, gathering and disseminating knowledge of best methods and practices to students, families and communities. When we shoot for the stars, the opportunity is there to significantly change the individual and the world around them.
